We noticed that either:

A) There was a period of 30 minutes or more of inactivity while on the AOM Online Article Retrieval System website; or
B) Your Internet web browser supports the functionality of Per-Session Cookies however this feature is currently disabled in your options/preferences.
   This functionality is necessary to use the online article retrieval system.
   Please select your Internet browser type and follow the instructions below for enabling this feature.


Netscape Users (versions 4.x):
1) Select “Edit” menu at the very top of your screen:
2) Select the “Preferences” option within the “Edit” menu (or use click the “Alt” key followed by the letter “E”, followed by the letter “E”):

3) In the “Category” section (tab), highlight the word “Advanced”.
4) Make sure that under the “Cookies” section that a check mark is placed in either the first or second box for “Accept All Cookies” or “Accept only cookies that get sent back back to the originating server”:
5) Click the “OK” button to save these changes Note: In order to “Refresh/Reload” this screen so that these changes you have just made can be reconginzed by the system, click on the “ONLINE ARTICLE RETRIEVAL” text at the very top of this page.

4) Then highlight the word “Cookies”
5) Make sure that a check mark is placed in either the second or third choice for “Enable All Cookies” or “Enable cookies for the originating website only”: :

Microsoft Internet Explorer Users (version 4.x or 5.x) & America Online (versions 4-6):
AOL Users go to the "Settings" menu and select "Preferences" and then "Internet Properties (WWW) then skip to step 3 below:
1) Select “View” menu at the very top of your screen:
2) Select “Internet Options” within the “View” menu:
 
3) Under “Security” tab within “Internet Options” make sure you highlight the “Internet” icon
4) Click the “Custom Level” button or select “Medium” security level or lower:

5) Use the scroll bar at right to scoll down to the section listing the “Cookies” options
6) Make sure that a check mark is placed next to the “Enable” box for the question reading: “Allow cookies that are stored on your computer” option
7) Make sure that a check mark is placed next to the “Enable” box for the question reading: “Allow per-session cookies (not stored)” option
8) Click the “OK” button on all screens until all windows are closed and you are back at the browser window only.

NOTE: You MUST be logged in to AOL to see the following windows.

1) Click on Settings at the top of the window.

2) Click on Browser Settings.
3) Click on Internet Explorer Settings on the right-hand side of the window.


4) Select the Privacy tab.
5) Click on the Advanced button.
6) Place a check mark in the box which reads 'Override automatic cookie handling'
5) Select Accept under First-party Cookies
6) Place a check mark in the box at the bottom which reads 'Always allow session cookies'
7) Click the OK button on all screens until all windows are closed and you are back at the browser window only.

Safari Users (versions 1.2.x) (Macintosh Users Only):
1) Within Safari, select the "Preferences" menu
2) Go to the "Security" section/tab
3) In the section about "Accept Cookies", select the option that reads "Always"
4) Apply this setting change and Refresh/Reload the internet browser window open to the Article Retrieval Service
